Maritime heritage meets modern trade in new collaboration with the National Maritime Museum and the University of Brighton.

Ellerman City Liners is proud to announce its support for an important research initiative led by Zoe Childerley, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton and academic researcher with the National Maritime Museum. Zoe is currently undertaking a Collaborative Doctoral Partnership project that explores the lived experiences of contemporary seafarers, aiming to bring their often-unseen stories to light through photography, film, and first-hand testimony.

Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), this multi-year project seeks to connect the historic legacy of British shipping with the modern maritime industry, while addressing the growing issue of “sea blindness” a term used to describe the public’s lack of awareness about the shipping industry’s vital role in everyday life
